In 6 years since the SHL merged with the KHL to form the SAHL, there have been many memorable games, fights and moments which have become almost legendary. We've broken sticks, nets, windows and hearts. We've walked, biked, driven and ran to games at the tennis courts, high school, church and on base. We've played through middle school, high school and now university. Teams and players from Cold Brook, Stephenville, Kippens, Port-au-Port West, Stephenville Crossing and all points in between makes up the most colourful ball hockey league to ever take to the pavement in Newfoundland and possibly Canada. 2 player associations elections ago. There was nothing quite like conducting a league meeting over lemonade and listening to OZ on the patio of 28 Bruce, SAHL HQ. Or spending hours trying to persuade everyone to take your side against someone else for some long forgotten and inexplicable reason. Or trying to trade Evan between Kippens and Stephenville for the 4th time that day. The glory days of the SAHL may be long over, but there is no doubt that the stories of our league will live on. Take a moment, fire up some Semisonic to get in a nostalgic mood, or In The Shadows by The Rasmus (official song of 2004 summer season), and browse the Road Shots, maybe some old video, and who knows, maybe even shed a tear like you did when you took that slapshot to the groin.
